'Commrade' is a political thriller which re gory land spur

farmers were promised jobs in the sal fortheir lands.
West Bengal's wanted claim ialisation. The ndustry in return
The movie recounts the chronicles of two towns with an
ominous entity veiled as 'industrialisation' (as claimed by those in power)
looming over them, wherein the dubious farmers soon started to rebel against
the inconsiderate decision of the authority. Ceaseless violence and bloodshed
ensued as police atrocities on peasants including firing and ruthless murder
tore apart the unsuspecting towns. A ray of hope presented itself to the
townspeople in the form of Nandini and Radharani, who led them in their
movement against the forced surrender of their lands. However, both Nandini and
Radharani's lives ended tragically with their gang rape, followed by their
deaths. This incident further petrified the peasants, which the party decided
to capitalise upon by seizing their lands by force. However, the townsfolks resolved
to stay united, persevere and not succumb to the pressure created bythe
insatiable industrialists over them.Their efforts finally paid off with the
Supreme Court declaring that all attempts at the land acquisition must be
stopped immediately. The film exposes the stand taken by major political
entities in the matter, the previously lesser known facts about the same, as
well as the flabbergasting political conspiracy involved in it..
Director's Note :
Politics in film has always been a subject of immense
scrutiny an endless debate. When one ventures out to tell a story comprising
events that have resulted in mass misery and anarchy, one must tactical as to
how they approach it, instead of merely imposing on whim. Telling such a story
not only calls for accurate research an objective presentation, but also must
not shy away from narrating' unadulterated, gory details.
One such story is'Commrade, base on the infamous series of
even that unfolded in certain parts of West Bengal between 2006 an 2007. However,
even though touches upon all key incidents that took place at the time, it is
not a documentary. It is made with an entertainment value in mind, so that it
appeals to a larger audience. As a former journalist, I assure you that
everything you see in the film are based on true incidents and are only
reworked so that a fictional narrative can be woven from it. We are indebted to
our producer, Mr. Indrajit Roy, for his faith in us, and encouraging us to make
this story seethe light of day. I insist everyone to watch 'Commrade' when it
releases on the 21st of July. With your participation in making our film a
success, we hope it sparks a cinematic revolution in the foreseeable future.
