warm vibes. There is something about Varun Dhawan that you should
actually like about. The guy always speaks from his heart, something that is
very rare these days, and never thinks of the fact that how his direct dil se
statements can cause ripples in media sometimes. Remember the time when he
compared Dilwale with Inception? Now Varun finds himself in hot water again for
something he expressed from his heart, because of his contract obligations.
Want to know what happened this time?
Varun Dhawan got a crash course in how to be a brand
ambassador, when an innocent tweet from his end landed him in trouble. It all
happened during Shah Rukh Khan's recent appearance on Dance Plus Season 3. The
episode saw Khan walk down memory lane, with heartfelt tributes from Remo
D'Souza and his team.Touched by the episode, Dhawan tweeted, "Dance Plus
definitely has the best live dance acts on TV. Superb." The actor, who has
worked with D'Souza on ABCD 2 (2015), wanted to support and encourage him. But,
his move backfired — an hour later, Dhawan deleted the tweet. Not only did the
audience go crazy with the performances but it floored Varun Dhawan too. Varun
couldn't refrain himself from praising Remo and team's stellar act and
immediately posted about it on Twitter. While
Varun's post He tweeted, "Dance Plus definitely has the best live dance
acts on TV. Superb." Which was only
a sweet gesture by him to show his support to Remo, it backfired and Dhawan had
to delete it.
Since Varun is the brand ambassador of a Sony SAB, the actor
got pulled up for praising the dance show hosted by Star, which is a rival
channel. A member from Remo's team informed a tabloid about the same.Since Dance Plus is a show on Star, which is a rival to
Sony, the latter had not taken it lightly that their ambassador has been
praising the show of their rival channel. Within an hour, the star had to
delete the tweet, which suggested that the PR team for SAB might have told him
to do the same.
Industry insiders suggest that Varun Dhawan was asked to
pull down the tweet by the publicity team of Sony SAB. Considering Dhawan has
been appointed as the happiness ambassador of the channel since last month, he
could not be seen supporting a show of a rival channel [D'Souza's show airs on
Star Plus].
"It was a clear case of clash of interests. Varun did
it with honest intentions, without thinking of consequences. But, it didn't go
down well with Sony," says a source. We reached out to Dhawan, but he
remained unavailable for comment.
