Bolly Tolly News,Kolkata, Saturday 9th September: Out with the old and in with the new – that’s what happens when the festive season beckons temptingly. With Durga Puja around the corner, fashion brand TANTI launched a fresh, prêt line of fusion wear through a fashion show SAAJ SUTRA 2017 at The Park Hotel on Saturday September 9 which is not only pocket friendly but also will be customised according to the buyer’s preferences. The collection which includes both men’s wear and women’s wear was showcased by top models of the city with renowned showstoppers like Jaya Seal Ghosh, Bickram Ghosh, Arijit Dutta and Saurav Jha.
Talking
about the event, founder of Tanti, Akhil Paul said, “I am delighted to present
this collection conceptualised by me. This is my first fashion show. Handloom
has always been a part of my childhood memories because of the atmosphere that
prevailed at my home town, Nadia. As the handloom industry is obsolete, the
focus is to preserve and encourage the weavers present. The initiative also
includes training various weavers back in the districts of Phulia, Dhonekali
and many others to keep alive the art form and skill sets. Saaj Sutra 2017 is
decoding the sheer elegance of hand woven fabrics and bringing about a fusion
in Indo-western ethnic concepts and rewinding to our rich heritage.”
The classic handcrafted
collection comprises 36 hand-stitched elite designs were displayed on ramp in
four different sequences by well-known city models, Runa Laha, Sneha Ghosh,
Ishika, Ruchira Mookerjee, Ria Bhattacharya, Sanghashri, Nick Rampal, Souvik,
Dipanjan Basak and Pradhan Deb. The walk was choreographed by Tina Mukherjee
and the makeup was done by Rajat Kaushik. The event showcased out-of-box saree
draping styles, popular prints, luscious shades, use of crisp comfortable
fabrics like Khadi, Matka, Linen,Nain and Tan Silk. The intricate strokes and
use of unique motifs under fusion and indo western collection were the
highlights of the show.
The
collection from the fashion show for this festive season rekindles the
potential of handloom textile and Tanti as a trendsetter takes a new step
towards creating style statements for men and women of all ages under Saaj
Sutra.
