Bolly Tolly News, November 26: Kishore Kumar is a name that resonates in every discussion on contemporary Indian music even today. A true legend and a multi-talented artist, his works continue to garner praise from patrons and fans alike. To pay homage to the epitome of playback singing, his elder son Amit Kumar and renowned artist Babul Supriyo performed live for a grand concert held on Sunday, November 26 at Science City Auditorium. Presented by Centrestage, the musical extravaganza saw the duo performing Kishore Kumar’s timeless numbers with Amit Kumar sharing anecdotes from the illustrious life of his father. The concert also featured Jolly Mukherjee, a playback singer who has spent some cherished personal time with the legend. The leading face of television in Bengal today and an accomplished singer himself, Saheb Chattopadhyay hosted the show.
The artists paid tribute to Kishore Kumar’s
exceptional and nonpareil contribution to the music industry through some
everlasting superhits. Saptak and
Sourav also paid tribute by singing the master’s songs. Akriti Kakkar, an
accomplished name in the Bollywood playback genre and Anwesha Dutta, a former
Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa champion, sang duets with Babul Supriyo. Kishore Sodha, who
accompanied Kishore Kumar in his live shows 1980 onwards, played the trumpet
& his brother, the illustrious Raj Sodha, played the Saxophone. Nitin
Shankar & Sunil Kaushik, celebrated musicians of the R D Burman team, were
among distinguished performers on the stage. Further, a team of accomplished
musicians from Kolkata, led by Rocket Mondal & Deb Shankar Roy of the
Violin Brothers, enthralled the audience with their musical mastery.
